Bolt Shells - Warhammer 40k Ammo by Renquist-von-Reik Bolt Shells - Warhammer 40k Ammo by Renquist-von-Reik
Bolt shell props from the Warhammer 40k universe.

Cast resin, painted with acrylics.
Approx. 3" long and 1.25" wide.

A shot with rulers to show the scale:

Bolt weapons and ammo:
Bolt weapons fire self-propelled mass-reactive shells known as bolts, which are timed to explode just after penetration for maximum lethality.

Each bolt is contained within a cartridge which includes a small conventional powder charge. When fired, this charge launches the bolt while simultaneously igniting its solid fuel propellant, which is timed to do so once it is clear of the barrel. The cartridge is then ejected, clearing the breech for the next round, while the bolt accelerates towards the target under its own power.

I loved the Chain Sword, but honestly I think this is my favorite item you've ever made. I want to make some and just have them sitting around my house or even when I'm at the office... (I'm military) and people be like: "WTF!? WHAT SIZE IS THAT AND WHAT GUN FIRES THAT ROUND!?!" and I be like: "It's a 75cal (.75 caliber)." and I'd leave it at that as their faces are still in shock and will probably never recover. They'd look like that painting known as "The Scream" you know the one... The kids from Home Alone when he slaps his face and screams "AH"? Yeah they'd look like that.

I love Bolt weapons

Today bullets do little holes (but with a large outlet)
but the tear break off chunks of meat and whole limbs ^ ^
not to mention the head ...

i like SM Veterans becouse they have few kinds of ammo. best are Krakens, Vengeance and Hellfire

Totally agree, and as if a standard bolt round wasn't devastating enough they came up with all those special rounds to be even more effective!

My personal favorite are the psycannon bolter rounds - take that psykers! :D

You know, I was totally oblivious to this until a friend came over saw the pic and started LOLing. He told me what was so funny and now that's all I can see when I look at this picture now. Totally Freudian accident there ;)

Quick question. "Kill The Heratic" on the bolter shell, Ultramarines movie reference?

It is! The design is inspired by the Ultramarines movie so it was only appropriate to go the whole 9 and add the inscription from the movie too ;)

I was only really upset the chaplain died such a poor death. He looked amazing and all chaplains deserve to go out like heroes!

Totally wicked. Just watched the movie again last night, after reading "Know No Fear" (the best Horus Heresy or Ultramarine book written yet!). I may have to try my own.

Thanks! My wife and I just watched it again on Valentine's Day. What could be more romantic than watching a squad of Ultramarines lay a beat down on the forces of Chaos!

(I CANNOT wait to read "Know No Fear"! I love Guilliman and have been waiting for his part of the tale for years now!)
