A life sized replica Inferno Pistol (Melta) from Warhammer 40k.

Made from solid cast resin with a pvc barrel, this gun measures 14" long, 9" tall, 4.5" wide and weighs around 4lbs.

This was modeled from the drawing of the Inferno Pistol in the Dark Heresy RPG rulebook.

It's is actually 7 pieces - the grip, 2 fuel canisters, the main body, 2 skull details (unceremoniously re-used from my medal of honor) and the barrel (which is 5 pieces by itself - outer barrel, inner barrel ends, and 2 mdf disks to hold the together)

All of the pieces are glued together and pinned using 1/4" wooden dowels except for the barrel, which is attached to the gun body using a 3" wood screw.

The main body was made of pink foam and mdf board, with details added using styrene plastic. The fuel canister was sculpted from air dry clay and is symmetrical so 1 sculpt is good for both sides. The barrel is a 3" pvc pipe with 2 mdf discs glued inside to which the smaller (2.5") pvc ends are glued. Overall it took about 6 weeks to complete alongside some other projects.

It is! The design was nearly identical to the GW art I was using as reference so I figured I could save a couple of hours of work crafting the grip from scratch and just sacrifice one of my Mavericks to the cause ;)
